Aphrodite's Nightmare

Now I lay me down to sleep
Shining face on golden sheets
A cockleshell of hopes and dreams
I crest the waves in my dolphin fleet
But wait! I wake from my dreams so deep
Strange machines rumble down foreign streets
My divine heart slows and skips a beat
What is this strange world? I seek
What has ousted me from my seat
I gaze in my gold mirror and softly weep
Wrinkles, crags, and eyes so weak
Age has caught up, I can barely speak
My devotees gone, I am obsolete
I fall in despair, for the first time I am meek
But wait! A glimmer of hope for Goddesses Greek
A new revival, interests piqued
Aphrodite will reign again, cheeks
Pink with pleasure, youth and mystique
My eyes fly open again; it was all a dream.
